| MEGADETH Return To Australia To Headline GIGANTOUR 2007. |
After the phenomenal success in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane last year, GIGANTOUR is back and will be playing Adelaide and Perth for the very first time as well. This year MEGADETH will be joined by LACUNA COIL, DEVILDRIVER and STATICX. Assorted press release is as follows:
"In 2006, GIGANTOUR creator Dave Mustaine promised “It is going to be something to look forward to each year, to see what kind of tremendous talent we can assemble, for GIGANTOUR festivals in the years to come." One year on and the talent has been assembled and is set to blow 2006 away…"
"They gave us Quentin Tarantino, Al Pacino, Frank Sinatra & Liposuction and now they give us Lacuna Coil…is their anything the Italians can’t do? Featuring the lush, powerful vocals of the stunning Cristina Scabbia, Lacuna Coil will be making their first trip to Australia as part of GIGANTOUR. Loud, elegant, mystical and ambient…prepare yourself for a set of tuneful, atmospheric doom-pop gems from Century Media darlings, Lacuna Coil."
"Since the arrival of their self titled debut in 2003, Devildriver, have made a massive impact on the metal scene with their monstrous grooves, brutal, haunting vocals and crushing live performances. Australian fans caught a glimpse of the Devildriver onslaught on their co-headline tour with Fear Factory, but with a brilliant new album in tow and massive stages to destroy…Devildriver will be taking no prisoners!"

| SONATA ARCTICA Announces New Guitarist. |
SONATA ARCTICA have announced that they've found replacement for the departed guitarist Jani Liimatainen:
"As many already know, our guitarist Jani Liimatainen has been absent from the line-up this spring and summer. The reason was his messing around with his compulsory military/civil/prison duty, or rather, complete failure to take care of it. This matter, and everything that goes with it, caused a split between Jani and the other band members. This split was impossible to mend without Jani's help and co-operation."
"Therefore we would like to make known the following: During fall of '06 and spring of '07, Jani's personal matters and actions drove us to a situation where we had no option but to ask Jani to leave the band. Jani was notified of this in May, and the separation was amicable. We wanted to give Jani the chance to get his life together before making this public, which is why we didn't make this announcement earlier. We wish Jani well on his chosen path."
"Show must go on, so, facing the facts, we hereby humbly announce that Elias Viljanen is from this day forward a full and official member of Sonata Arctica. Throughout this summer, on many occasions, Elias has shown himself to be able to fill the big boots Jani left behind."
"We hope our friends and our fans understand that this was the only choice left for us to make so
that our band could continue. Sonata Arctica has always been, and always will be, more than the sum of its parts. The band has become for us a way of life, a lifeline that simply can not be cut off."
"A long "Unia" tour lies in front of us.
We extend Elias a warm welcome to the Sonata family, and we hope the fans will, too.
Sonata Arctica is whole again. See you on the road!"

| AVANTASIA: New CD To Feature ALICE COOPER, MICHAEL KISKE And RUDOLPH SCHENKER. |
EDGUY frontman Tobias Sammet has announced that Scorpions guitarist Rudolf Schenker and Alice Cooper will appear as guest musicians on his forthcoming AVANTASIA project. This is what he had to say:
Tobias (AVANTASIA, EDGUY): "I am really proud and grateful to have Rudolf and Alice as guests on the album. I am glad Rudolf finally managed to do it as the Scorpions have been so busy promoting their new album "Humanity Hour1" which I think is their best since 1987. We had to re-schedule the session once and finally we worked things out catching up backstage in Slovakia during a Scorpions/Edguy show. And what can I say about Alice Cooper? He is a unique American legend! Everybody knows him and all I can say is: I ain't worthy, I ain't worthy! The role he's sung suits him perfectly! Both Rudolf and Alice - did great performances and I am truely blessed to have won them as special guests for my album!"
Also starring on Avantasia so far: Sascha Paeth, Henjo Richter (Gamma Ray), Eric Singer (Kiss, Alice Cooper), Miro, Michael Kiske, Jorn Lande (ex-Masterplan), Bob Catley (Magnum) and Amanda Somerville.
Lost In Space Part 1 & 2 is due to be released on October 19th.
In other news, it has been announced that AVANTASIA will headline Wacken Open Air in 2008 along side Iron Maiden and Children Of Bodom. More on the news later...
