Ok, for those who dont want to read through 60 odd replies to the Opeth forums, I'll basically summarise the findings (that interested me anyway)
Worst Opeth song, not really completely decided, but I guess its a guage of what people are thinking out there (although the UM Opeth forum is inundated with spastics) - seemed to be coming through as "The Night and the Silent Water" which apparently even the band hates.
Now, are we talking about the same band here? The same band that has also released "The Ghost Reveries" (which given I haven't heard in full, but I'm positive is a step down from Morningrise) and even "Deliverance" and "Damnation"
I would suggest to you, that despite the fact that The Night and the Silent Water is one of my favourite songs, objectively speaking, I'd say that there are atleast 4 songs off each of the aforementioned albums which suck in many ways more than TNATSW does.
I ask you, what is Opeth's worst song? From the albums I have heard in full, it would have to be something off Damnation, but I'll stick to Opeth's real albums and say it is Master's Apprentice or By the Pain I See in Others.
What do you guys think? |

well for me, The Grand Conjuration still stands out in my mind, on top of that, the quality of the song had dampened even more with the release of the video, such a great way to ruin an already mediocre song |

The Night and the Silent Water is probably my favourite Opeth song...
Songs I dislike are:
Black Rose Immortal
Serenity Painted Death (too many groves. You can dance to it)
Most of Deliverance and Damnation
All of the the new one |

Bleak is the worst song ever recorded by Opeth. |

I was going to add Bleak too, but for me it has it's moments. I only added the tunes that appalled me |

Are you serious? BRI is one of their best efforts. All of morningrise and MAYH ruled anything else they did.
Bleak, or the Grand Conjuration, and all of Damnation would be their worst. |

eh really the only thing that stands out with Black Rose Immortal is that it's 20mins long! still a decent song, but nothing really special except being Opeth's longest song yet |

I think its an awesome song, although 20 mins is prob a bit too long. In any case, i don't see how you can knock anything off Morningrise. That album is just sheer brilliance. |

Nectar is probably the lowest point in Morningrise, but that's not to say it doesn't have many enjoyable sections/moments. Black Rose is much the same, but when a song is that long, it's hard to tackle it. The song has many, many movements, and for me, some of them are the most entrancing of any Opeth song, but some others are quite lacking. Obviously the whole piece doesn't come together very well, but I find that if you imagine it as having been split up into 3 parts, it's easier to digest. |

Bleak is a wicked song. Unparalleled melody
Plus it was the song that got me into Opeth (well that and In Mist She Was Standing, which is probably their best) |

Bleak is an awesome song, but The Drapery Falls is what got me into Opeth in the first place |
